A POPULAR local pub has reopened with a new look after a £140k refurbishment.

Drinkers have been full of praise for the work done to The Black Bull Inn at Clayton after the hostelry was closed for two and a half weeks for a makeover.

“The feedback from them has been immense,” said The Black Bull Inn’s operator, Paula Fraser.  “They are loving the new look and the new feel.

“There are new TVs, carpets and décor. We have new furniture, a new-look pool room and an amazing beer garden. It’s a complete refresh, with a move of the darts board.”

Paula is particularly pleased with the work done in the beer garden, which now has an undercover area.

“It’s a fabulous beer garden to enjoy that cold pint on a summer day - or feel that fresh air outside in the new undercover area when the sun has not made an appearance,” she said. “It’s the best beer garden for miles around.”

“There are compliments on the pool room - the darts board is upstairs now - the beer garden, the new furniture and, for some, the new blinds and curtains!  “This is a winner and everybody is invited,” she added.  Paula and the team said they were “absolutely thrilled” with the new look, and are looking forward to serving all their loyal customers and greeting new ones.

New entertainment is to include a DJ, karaoke, race days, bingo, games nights, and darts and dominoes.  “The list is endless,” added Paula. “As always, the customers will have a say in what’s happening at the Bull!

“We have also introduced, from Monday to Thursday 11am – 6pm, new prices, with John Smiths, Carlsberg and Strongbow at £2.25. We have great product and value prices all the time - check out the pub!”

The Black Bull Inn, at 7-9 Green End, is owned by Stonegate Group. Originally formed in 2010 with 333 pubs, Stonegate Group is now the largest pub company in the UK, with more than 4,500 hostelries.
