A BRADFORD centre hosted an event which celebrated unity of cultures.
On Thursday, The Girlington Centre hosted an event celebrating the independence days of both India and Pakistan, as well as South Asian Heritage Month.
Organisers said the event was more than just a celebration - it was a gathering that brought together people from all walks of life to honour the richness of shared cultures and the bonds that unite them.
The High Sheriff of West Yorkshire, Professor Adeeba Malik CBE attended the event along with young people, elders, managers from the Bradford Mental Health Team and many others.
Ruby Bhatti and Val Rowlands, co-chairs of the board of directors at The Girlington Centre, said: "This celebration marks a significant moment for our community, emphasizing the power of unity and shared heritage.
“It is a testament to the strength of our diversity and the common values that bring us together."
Fozia Shaheen, co-chief executive of The Girlington Centre, added: “It was an immense honour to organise such a meaningful celebration.
“The Girlington Centre has long been a beacon of inclusivity and pride, welcoming the diverse communities in and around Girlington with open arms.
“As we continue to face challenges in our world, events like this remind us of the importance of unity, understanding and the shared heritage that binds us together.
“In a world that often feels divided, this event was a powerful reminder that we have more in common than that which separates us.
“At The Girlington Centre, our heritage and people matter deeply to us, and we remain committed to celebrating the diversity that makes our community so special."
She thanked the volunteers, staff and sponsors who made the event possible.
