MORE than 15 teams from across the UK gathered for a memorial volleyball tournament at Bradford's Karmand Centre on August 11.

The event, which has taken place annually for more than a decade, was held in loving memory of Amrik Singh, Gurbax Singh Riyait, and Gurdeep Singh Lilly.

It was organised by Amargeet Singh and Raja Nazam Ali.

The final match, between teams from Derby and Oldham, drew in more than 300 eager spectators.

After a fierce battle, it was Oldham who claimed victory and the championship cup.

Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford, Mohammed Shafiq, attended the event and presented the winning cup and runner-up medals.

He said it was "heartening to see the communities of Bradford coming together through sport and goodwill".

The event was designed to reinforce the values of teamwork, perseverance, and community engagement, as well as honouring the memory of respected leaders in the area.
