A MAN in his 90s who was found dead in a Bradford garden was "badly burnt with a major head injury", a court has heard.

An inquest into the death of David George Hart opened at Bradford Coroner's Court yesterday morning.

The court heard Mr Hart, who was 92-years-old and widowed, was pronounced dead at Shetland Close, off King's Road, at 3.47pm on April 16.

The cause of his death, pending lab tests, was given as 'head injury', the hearing was told.

Ian Pears, assistant coroner, told the court: "David lived with his partner in Bradford.

"On April 16, 2024, police were called to the address after neighbours alerted them to a man screaming in the rear garden and a woman attacking him.

"When police arrived they found David to be deceased in the garden.

"He was badly burnt with a major head injury."

Mr Hart was born in Warminster, Somerset, on January 19, 1932, the hearing was told.

  • Following the incident, Susan Poole, 52, of Shetland Close, Bradford, was charged with murder. Her trial is due to start on October 7. Poole remains in custody and is set to be transferred to the high-security Rampton Hospital in Nottinghamshire, Bradford Crown Court heard earlier this week.
