RESIDENTS of quiet Bradford road were met by this fly-tipped mess on Friday morning.

The rubbish, which includes a mattress, a sofa, child's toys, and more was dumped overnight on Stocks Lane, Clayton Heights.

One resident said it was blocking people from driving to the main road and raised the question of whether it happened due to the closure of Queensbury tip.

The Ford Hill site fell victim to a major cost-cutting drive by Bradford Council.

A Bradford Council spokesperson told the Telegraph & Argus this afternoon: “We are aware of this fly-tipping.

"The Environmental Enforcement Team is investigating to establish the source of the waste and enforcement action will be taken where possible.

“This amount of waste would not fit in a standard car, it would require at least a transit van. An unsuspecting resident likely paid for it to be removed."

They added: “The closure of Ford Hill HWRC would not have prevented this commercial scale of fly-tipping by people who disregard the law.

“There is no need to fly tip any waste and its disappointing that someone feels it is alright to dump this waste and spoil the environment for everyone, rather than abide by the law.

“Householders are reminded that if they use someone else to get rid of their waste they must make sure they use registered waste carriers. This helps prevent unregistered offenders from depositing waste illegally."
