THREE lanes were closed on a section of the M62 earlier due to flooding.
The lanes were shut on the westbound stretch from junction 25, for Brighouse, to junction 24, for Ainley Top.
Shortly before 6.30pm, National Highways confirmed all lanes had been reopened following the clearance of the water on the carriageway.
However, drivers are being warned that long delays remain.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "There are six miles of congestion following this incident causing 45-minute delays above normal journey time."
