A GROUP was joined by an MP at a climate change demonstration in Bradford city centre.
Global Justice Bradford has enlisted the support of Naz Shah, MP for Bradford West, who came to the vigil outside the West Yorkshire Pension Fund to support the Fossil Fuel Treaty.
Global Justice Bradford group holds a weekly Friday vigil to remind West Yorkshire Pension Fund to divest entirely from fossil fuel companies because the group says they are a major cause of climate change and the consequent crisis of the planet.
A spokesperson for Global Justice Bradford said: “Naz Shah (MP for Bradford West) has come to the vigil to support the Fossil Fuel Treaty which requires Governments who sign up to it to: end the new exploration and production of fossil fuels; phase out existing stockpiles and production of fossil fuels; support countries to help workers and communities transition towards 100 per cent renewable energy.”
The group said Ms Shah will contact Ed Miliband, Shadow Minister for the Environment, so that this will be part of a future Labour government action.
