STEP inside the Market Square Tavern to a warm welcome.

“Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, you'll be made to feel welcome. The pub is renowned for its friendly atmosphere, attracting a loyal following,” says Victoria Hatton, managing director of the independent Yorkshire pub company Concept Taverns, which owns the hostelry.

Originally The Ferrands Arms - a Bingley institution for many years - The Market Square Tavern honours its history with a tasteful blend of modern and traditional décor.

“It respects the pub's past while offering a fresh, contemporary feel,” says Victoria.

The Queen Street inn opened under its new name in April 2021 following a ÂŁ500,000 revamp.

“The name reflects its prime location, directly facing the bustling Bingley Town Square, paying homage to the long history of Bingley Market and the vibrant heart of the charming town,” she adds.

The venue provides a well-rounded pub experience, with a particular focus on showcasing the finest cask ales brewed in Yorkshire.

“The Market Tavern has built strong relationships with local breweries, allowing them to rotate their selection across six cask lines. Its dedication to fresh, local brews means you'll always find something new to discover,” says Victoria.

Some of the pub’s recent best sellers include the ever-popular Timothy Taylor's Landlord, brewed in Keighley, Vocation's Heart and Soul, brewed in Cragg Vale near Hebden Bridge, and a selection from Ilkley Brewery's impressive range. Bingley Brewery and Northern Monk are also regular favourites.

Customers can soak up the summer sun in the popular beer garden at the rear or cosy up indoors with a selection of food from the menu: a mix of modern comfort food featuring hand-stretched pizzas, nachos, and a variety of small plates and sharing options.

There's plenty to keep punters entertained, with three pool tables and a lively Thursday night quiz. Sports fans can catch the biggest games live on Sky and TNT Sports, while the pub regularly comes alive with live music nights featuring a variety of genres.

Assistant general manager Jamie Trudgill thrives on the company's culture of growth: “I love the eagerness for progression within the company. The job and the company allow everyone to express themselves in areas that they find most enjoyable, which, for myself, is cellar and cask ales.

“I appreciate the opportunity to learn from local breweries. The ongoing support fuels both my personal and professional development.”
