A BRADFORD business has beat industry giants to win a national retail award.

The team at Yorkshire Garden Centres Group is celebrating picking up a gong at the British HR Awards, that took place in London on Tuesday.

The company, which has headquarters in Bradford and runs Tong, Tingley, Bingley, and Otley Garden Centres, was handed the Retail Company of the Year Award for the second year in a row.

Other big names in with a shout of winning in the category were Heron Foods, Holland & Barrett, and Selfridges.

Neil Barwise-Carr, Yorkshire Garden Centres' head of people and culture,  said: "The HR awards celebrate organisations and individuals that are driven by delivering a world-class people experience, so we're proud and delighted to have won this award on behalf of our great team."

It comes after the group acquired Dean's Garden Centres in York and Scarborough at the end of February.

Nate Harwood, founder of New Possible, and British HR Awards judge, said: "The British HR Awards celebrate the talented, dedicated, and passionate teams and individuals who are fueling thriving workplaces across the UK and beyond.

"I'd like to extend my congratulations to all the winners and finalists."
