A MOTORBIKE found in a field is suspected to have been hotwired and stolen, police say.

The motorbike was discovered by Shipley police in a field off Hollins Hill.

It was located by officers from West Yorkshire Police's Steerside Enforcement Team.

A spokesperson from the team said there were "signs of (the motorbike) being hotwired" and no registration mark was displayed.

The motorbike was believed to have been stolen and it was recovered for "further examination", according to the spokesperson.

Hotwiring is where the engine of a vehicle is started by bypassing the ignition system, typically in order to steal it.

West Yorkshire Police's Steerside Enforcement Team operates across the Bradford district, deploying officers seven days a week in cars and on bikes.

They work as part of Operation Steerside, which was launched in the region in 2016 to tackle crimes on the roads.
