A SHOW about “a woman who decided to live her life as a sheep” is heading for Bradford.

Ruth Berkoff is the writer and performer of one-woman show The Beauty of Being Herd, which has had five star reviews. Featuring original songs, clowning and heartfelt sharing, it’s about the search for human connection.

Hannah has tried all her life to follow the rules. If only someone would tell her what exactly they are... Relentlessly optimistic and eager to fit in, she also finds it’s possible to be too eager.

Says Ruth: “This show has sheep facts, tail waggling and frollicking, a rave, an office party and of course a field. There are laugh out loud moments as well as moments that will break your heart. The Beauty of Being Herd is for anyone who’s ever felt like an outsider.”

A Leeds-born performer and writer, Ruth trained in contemporary circus at Circomedia in Bristol and in theatre and clown at Ecole Philippe Gaulier, France. As a former Samaritan, she “cares deeply about people feeling understood”.

And as a four time pantomime dame, she also “cares deeply about laughter and nonsense”.

* The Beauty of Being Herd is at Common Space, Bradford, on April 23 (trybooking.com/uk); Rural Arts, Thirsk, on April 25 (ruralarts.org/whats-on) and Hyde Park Book Club on Saturday, April 27 (seetickets.com). Age guidance 16-plus.
