POLICE have seized a car in Bradford from an uninsured driver who was not wearing a seatbelt.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Steerside Enforcement Team saw the Seat Arona on Keighley Road
A spokesperson for the team said: "It was stopped due to the driver not wearing a seatbelt.
"Further enquiries revealed that he was not insured.
"The vehicle was seized and the driver reported."
Drivers and adult front seat passengers in cars must wear a seatbelt, unless they have a medical exemption certificate.
Adults travelling in the rear of a car must also use seatbelts, if they are fitted.
It is the responsibility of the adult passenger - not the driver - to ensure that they are using the seatbelt.
It is also illegal to drive a vehicle on a road or in a public place without at least third-party insurance.
The police can check on the spot if your vehicle is insured using the Motor Insurance Database.
If it isn't, they can seize it immediately - even if you then arrange insurance at the roadside.
Punishments for driving without insurance can include a substantial fine, points on your licence and even a disqualification from driving.
