Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of Kulsuma Akter in Bradford on Saturday have charged a man with her murder.

Habibur Masum, 25, of Leamington Avenue, Burnley, Lancashire, has been charged tonight (Wednesday) with murder and possession of a bladed article.

He has been remanded into custody to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court tomorrow (Thursday).

A 23-year-old man arrested in the Cheshire area on Monday on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released on bail. Initial details of that arrest had already been revealed by police.

In a fresh development, it has now emerged that four other men were arrested in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, on suspicion of assisting an offender and drug offences.

The men, aged 23, 26, 28, and 29, from the West Midlands area, are currently in custody.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information that could assist the investigation into the incident in Westgate. The young mum was pushing a pram along the street when the attack took place in broad daylight. The baby was unharmed, police have said.
