A LORRY driver has been warned for allegedly using their phone while behind the wheel "to try find their delivery address".

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were out in the Windhill area of Bradford on Tuesday.

They said on a Facebook post that they spotted someone using their phone while driving a HGV and asked the driver of the vehicle to pull over.

A spokesperson for the force said: "The driver has been reported for the offence and given advice about pulling up in a safe location to try find their delivery address."

Meanwhile, the team also stopped another vehicle in the area for "driving in an anti-social manner" and "being in excess of the speed limit".

The driver was reported and issued a Section 59 warning.

Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 allows police to give drivers a warning if they are reported to have used their vehicle in a manner which causes "alarm, distress or annoyance".

This means if the driver is spotted driving in this manner again, or driving in any way that is deemed to be anti-social or dangerous, within a year of the warning, police can seize their vehicle.
