A BRADFORD man has raised nearly £80,000 for a vital cause by pounding the streets.
Nazim Ali, from Manningham, took part in the Fleetwood Spring 10k run in Lancashire on Sunday - while fasting during Ramadan.
He ran the race in aid of Keighley-based Green Crescent Aid UK's project to build homes for vulnerable families in Afghanistan.
Nazim said: "It was my 11th annual Ramadan 10k run and I completed it in one hour, three minutes and 14 seconds.
"There were blustery conditions - the wind was pushing against me for half of the race which meant I had to work twice as hard.
"I finished the race at 11am and still had nine hours before I opened my fast - no food or drink until sunset."
Speaking of the cause he ran for, Nazim added: "These homes will improve people's lives.
"Afghanistan is poverty stricken with abject living conditions for hundreds of thousands of people."
Nazim has raised an extraordinary £900,000 for charity in the last decade.
He thanked everyone for their ongoing support and donations.
