HOW lovely do these youngsters (above) look in their Easter hats?

The Easter bonnet parade is a longstanding tradition, from the days when people would wear new clothes to church on Easter Sunday.

With decorated eggs, floral blooms and cuddly chickens and lambs adorning Easter bonnets, they have come to symbolise the new life of this spring festival.

With the Easter bank holiday weekend upon us, we’re looking back on some splendid bonnets over the years.
