Bradford District Credit Union (BDCU) has marked the milestone of 10,000 members with a special event at City Hall.

The celebration came after the financial services provider achieved success with two new projects.

Funded by the Mayor of West Yorkshire’s Cost of Living Emergency Fund, BDCU's Cost of Living Loan has been bringing support and financial relief to those in need.

It helps them to take out an affordable loan to help with everyday expenses.

The second initiative, also funded by the Mayor, is the organisation's Uniform Savers project.

Single parent families can pay for new school uniforms and develop healthy savings habits through a £100 incentive if they save on three separate occasions before July 2024.

Together, the two initiatives are expected to help 600 local households across the district.

Mayor Tracy Brabin attended the event which was themed around the concept of past, present and future.

BDCU honoured its very first member, Sean, serving as a poignant reminder of its impact on the local community.

There was also a series of presentations by the senior management team - covering anything from food banks to reducing reliance.

Mayor Brabin said: “As prices continue to rise, it’s vital we do everything we can to support those on the sharpest end of the cost of living crisis."
