FIREIGHTERS rescued a trapped person from a car following a crash on Friday.

Crews from Shipley and Bradford were called at 11.52am to reports of a road traffic collision on Otley Road.

Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service were also dispatched to the scene.

Responders included an ambulance, rapid response vehicle, team leader and air ambulance.

Firefighters found one vehicle on its side, where one person was trapped. 

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Crews extricated the casualty leaving them in the care of the ambulance service."

One male patient was conveyed to Bradford Royal Infirmary by road.

There was standstill traffic throughout the Otley Road area. 

One eye witness described the crash as "bad". 

The road was temporarily closed due to a road traffic collision and bus diversions were put in place.

Disruption continued as the road was partially blocked, with queueing traffic reported in both directions.

The vehicle has been recovered. 

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 11.54am today (Friday), police attended an incident where a car was on its roof outside the Shipley Resource Centre in Otley Road.

"The male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was taken to hospital for further treatment. 

"Road closures were put in place while enquiries were made into the collision and the vehicle was recovered."
