A RANGE Rover was seized after police determined a driver inappropriately used its 'launch control' function on a Bradford road.

The incident occurred when officers from the Steerside Enforcement Team stopped the Range Rover on Hollins Hill, Baildon, after making the observation.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the Steerside Enforcement Team said: "Observed the driver of this vehicle inappropriately using the 'launch control' function at traffic light junction.

"Reported to Safer Bradford for a breach of the anti-social vehicle use PSPO and seized under S. 59 Police Reform Act."

Launch control operates by using an electronic accelerator and a computer program.

The software controls acceleration based on engine specifications to make the car accelerate smoothly and as fast as possible, avoiding spinning of the drive wheels, engine failure due to over-revving and clutch and gearbox problems.
