POLICE have now made four arrests in relation to threats made on social media.

In the wake of this, schools across Bradford have been speaking with police and patrols have been increased outside some schools.

Police have also asked people not to speculate about the videos or share them on social media.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "We are aware of a social media video that has been circulating around the community in West Yorkshire since last week of a small group of youths making threats towards another group.

"There has been speculation regarding incidents within schools however there have been no reported incidents at any school within our communities.

"West Yorkshire Police are working with local authorities and are actively encouraging people not to speculate or put unnecessary fear into the community and would kindly ask people do not share these types of videos online.

"In response to concerns raised, West Yorkshire Police are working with our partners and local neighbourhood policing teams to provide reassurance in the community.

"Four arrests have been made in relation to this matter and enquiries remain ongoing by Bradford CID."

A spokesperson added: "West Yorkshire Police takes all reports of youth violence and anti-social behaviour seriously and behaviour of this type will not be tolerated, and any offences committed will be dealt with robustly."

On Friday, Buttershaw Business & Enterprise College allowed parents to collect their children early as concerns mounted, while a police presence was put in place at the school.

On Monday, police revealed that the threat had widened to include other schools across the Bradford district.

A letter to parents from Immanuel College, issued on Monday, said: "Earlier this morning, the school became aware of some local concerns following social media activity over the weekend.

"Please be reassured safeguarding is always our top priority and we take any local concerns very seriously."

The school said the site was secure and there had been no abnormal activity.

Appleton Academy in Wyke told parents and carers on Tuesday that police believe "there is no credible threat to any school, including Appleton Academy" but added: "To provide reassurance, the police were present at our site yesterday and today, and will remain so over the course of the rest of the week.

"We also have additional staff on duty on-site at the start and end of the day."
