WEST Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin shared inspirational stories of her time in politics during an International Women's Day event.
The event, held at Salts Hub in Saltaire on Saturday, was organised by Anna Dixon, Labour's parliamentary candidate for Shipley, and attended by women from across the constituency who are active in their local communities and beyond.
Ms Brabin spoke of the challenge of taking over as MP for the Batley and Spen constituency following the murder of Jo Cox and encouraged women into leadership roles and public life, telling the audience that "your lived experience is your superpower".
She said: "It was so fantastic to be with such amazing women who really cared about International Women's Day and inspiring others."
Ms Dixon added: "I am proud of the women leaders in our community who stand together to challenge discrimination and work to bring an end to violence against women and girls."
Best-selling Bingley author Linda Green also talked about her novel In Little Stars, which was inspired by the racist abuse a female friend and her son suffered on a train from Leeds.
She told the audience: "As a novelist, I tell women's stories because they are stories which need to be heard."
