A BUSINESS owner has spoken of his shock after his Bradford restaurant was attacked by balaclava-clad suspects.

The windows and signs of Sultans Restaurant, a curry house on Keighley Road, opposite Lister Park, were damaged when attackers reportedly drove up and used a scaffolding pipe to damage windows and signs.

After the first incident in the early hours of Sunday, the restaurant was hit again on Monday night.

The owner of Sultans, who didn't wish to be named, told the T&A: “They drove up in a car at around 12.30am Sunday and smashed a small window.

“Then around 8.30pm last night people who had their face covered with balaclavas used a scaffolding pipe to break windows and signs.

“The pipe was so heavy the guy could barely lift it.

“This attack was a bit shocking. It was a stupid and daft thing to do.”

The owner said they contacted police and an investigation has been launched.

The owner spoke of his surprise at the attacks.

“To be honest, we don’t why this has happened,” he said. “We don’t have problems with anyone.

“We just like to serve the community.”

The owner said he does not know how much it will cost to repair all of the damage.

“We’re getting some quotes, but until the police find out who did this, we’re not going to get it fixed because we don’t want it to happen again," he said.

A passer-by also contacted the T&A after seeing the damage to the restaurant.

He was driving past the premises when he noticed what had happened.

"The windows and signs were broken," he said.

"I'm concerned for the restaurant as the owners are very nice."

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area or has any further information is asked to contact the police via 101 quoting log number 1857 of March 4.

Sultans said the restaurant will be open as normal despite the damage.
