SIX teenagers have been arrested after a 16-year-old boy was injured in a fight between two groups of teens last night (Friday).

The incident of affray took between 10pm and 10.35pm last night on Dale Lane in Heckmondwike.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following an affray incident in Heckmondwike on Friday evening.

"Kirklees District CID would like to speak to anyone who witnessed or has footage of fighting between two groups of youths which took place on Dale Lane between 10pm and 10.35pm on March 1.

"Emergency services attended the area following reports two groups of teenagers had been fighting in the street and then made off, leaving one male with serious injuries.

"A 16-year-old male was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries caused by a bladed weapon.

"Following enquiries six males aged between 13 and 19 have been arrested on suspicion of affray and have been questioned.

"Enquiries have been ongoing at the location and in the nearby area and officers from the Batley and Spen NPT have been conducting reassurance patrols.

"Anyone who witnessed or has footage of the fight or of suspects fleeing the scene is asked to contact Kirklees CID on 101 referencing police crime number 13240116655.
