A WOMAN has died after a house fire, police have confirmed this morning. 

Emergency services were called to the incident on Old Lane, Bramhope, shortly before 10.20pm yesterday. 

A woman who was rescued from the property sadly died at the scene a short time later.

Investigations are currently taking place at the scene to establish the cause of the fire.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Police were called by fire service colleagues to a report of concern for safety due to a house fire at Old Lane, Bramhope, at 10.18pm last night.

"A woman rescued from the house sadly died at the scene a short time later.  

"Fire investigators are still at the scene establishing the cause of the blaze."

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "We were called to reports of a property fire on Old Lane, Bramhope, at 10.03pm last night.

"This was found to be a serious house fire.

"Crews from Cookridge, Rawdon and Otley used a hose reel, breathing apparatus and positive pressure ventilation to extinguish the fire.

"Fire investigators are looking into this incident."

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service added: "A number of resources, including two ambulances and an air ambulance, responded to a property fire incident on Old Lane, Bramhope, on Thursday night."
