SHOCKING footage has emerged of fly-tippers brazenly dumping rubbish in a quiet cul-de-sac in Bradford.

Fly-tippers in a white van bearing a foreign number plate can be seen pulling up at the end of Princeville Road.

They are pictured getting out of the car and dumping the waste in broad daylight.

It was caught on CCTV by nearby cameras on two acres of land, where a new house is due to be built.

One of those behind the project urged people to do their part and research whether a potential waste removal company is legitimate.

Bradford Council said the case is under investigation.

Sammy, who did not wish to give his last name, said: “Somebody’s come onto the street and they’ve fly tipped.

“When the neighbour ran out they drove off.

“This is an ongoing problem there.

“It’s a cul-de-sac and they think there’s no houses there. They don’t realise there’s CCTV. This has been going on for years.

“Since we’ve been there it’s been going on a few times. Even if their plates come up they’re after the money. They’re not bothered.

“I live in Bradford. It makes me feel upset they’re doing this. They’re getting people to remove this, people are not doing their checks. They just want to get rid, they don’t ask any questions. They don’t realise they could get rid of it and go to the tip.”

He added: “The Council has collected our rubbish.

“These culprits are going everywhere in Bradford collecting rubbish, charging someone to collect their rubbish, and dumping it in another area.”

The incident took place at around 2pm on Monday, February 26.

A spokesperson for Bradford Council said: “This case is still being investigated so we cannot comment further. But, while foreign registrations can cause difficulties in progressing investigations, it does not mean cases are abandoned.

“Householders must make sure they use registered waste carriers. This helps prevent unregistered offenders from dumping waste illegally. If anyone has information about fly-tipping, please report it at www.bradford.gov.uk/flytipping or call 01274 432111.”

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Fly tipping examples shared by Bradford Council to the Telegraph & Argus

It comes after the Telegraph & Argus launched its Community Clean Up campaign.

Fly-tipping and littering is a criminal offence that affects people’s quality of life, health and wellbeing, and attracts rats.

Householders can be fined up to £5,000 and end up with a criminal record if they ask someone else to remove their rubbish and it is found to be fly-tipped.

Fly-tipping sites can be reported to Bradford Council by calling 01274 431000 or at www.bradford.gov.uk

Anyone who suspects that someone will be disposing of waste illegally should report them to the Environment Agency.

You can check that a waste carrier is registered by visiting the agency’s website, www.environment.data.gov.uk/public-register/view/index
