A POPULAR pub has set out its stance on allowing dogs on the premises.

The Brown Cow in Bingley took to Facebook to share the information with customers.

The pub explained that there had been some instances where diners had "disregarded" its booking policy.

The post said: "Long, somewhat boring post alert.

"Please be aware that as much as we love dogs visiting our pub (more than people sometimes) Not everyone feels the same, especially when dining.

"Therefore we do have a dog-friendly area & an area where dogs are not allowed.

"It does state this clearly on our booking system…..Unfortunately we’ve had a few instances recently where this has been, seemingly disregarded.

"IF you choose to ignore this & book a table in the restaurant area AND bring a dog, unfortunately you will not be able to have that table - you’ll then run the risk of not being able to eat, drink & be merry at all if there isn’t a suitable, alternative table available at that time

"Please bear in mind the different areas when booking, as we want you to enjoy your time with us as much as possible!

"Apologies if you disagree with our stance but we feel this way works the best for us & our customers overall - Thankyou."

People shared their support for the pub's message.

One person said: "I dont want to share my drink with a dog in a pub, but do put up with it.

"Eating with one is a big NO!! Well done for clarifying."

Another comment said: "Absolutely agree with this. I like dogs but don't want to eat near one. Thank you."

"Totally agree with your stance," said another comment.

"It's in line with many dining pubs and dog owners should respect this. I love dogs but not in a dining environment."

One woman took to the comments to praise The Brown Cow's food.

She wrote: "Came for food for the first time last night and it was absolutely outstanding."
