FIREFIGHTERS rescued a person from their car after a crash near a main road last night.

Emergency services were called to Industrial Street, off Halifax Road, Liversedge, shortly before 7pm.

The collision involved two cars.

One person was freed by firefighters from Mirfield and Cleckheaton.

They were left in the care of Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) and taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 6.52pm on February 25 to Industrial Street, Liversedge.

"Two cars had collided. 

"One person was freed from the crash by crews from Mirfield and Cleckheaton and left in the care of ambulance service colleagues," the spokesperson added.

A spokesperson for YAS added: "We received an emergency call just after 6.30pm to report a collision on Industrial Street, Liversedge. 

"An ambulance and team leader were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Leeds General Infirmary."
