A BRIDGE over a canal in Bradford is to be closed to vehicles and pedestrians for "essential safety work" this coming week.

Bradford Council has announced the bridge over the Leeds Liverpool Canal, in Primrose Lane, Bingley, near The Fisherman pub, will but shut to vehicles and pedestrians for a large part of the day from tomorrow.

This is so "essential safety work" can be undertaken by Canal & River Trust, according to the local authority.

The closure is in place between 9am and 3pm every day, from Monday until Friday.

Diversions will be in place.

A spokesperson for the council said on X, formerly Twitter: "The bridge over the Leeds Liverpool Canal by The Fisherman pub in Bingley (Primrose Ln), will be closed to vehicles & pedestrians for essential safety work by the @CanalRiverTrust, between 9am-3pm each day from Monday 26 February to Friday 1 March.

"Diversions will be in place."
