WEST Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) has warned people to be "aware and vigilant" after receiving a suspicious report this morning.

The team posted on X, formerly Twitter, at 10.21am today to inform the public that someone had reported that two individuals claimed to be from the fire service and then tried to enter a property.

But WYFRS made it clear if any officers ever come round to give advice, they will show identification.

The post said: "We've unfortunately had a report of two suspects claiming to be from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to try and enter a property.

"We do provide safety advice to over 10000 homes per year - but our officers will always show their ID cards when they arrive at your home."

One person replied to the post asking where the report came from.

WYFRS said: "This incident was in Calderdale, but we want everyone in West Yorkshire to be aware and vigilant."
