POLICE are searching for two suspects after a supermarket worker was attacked after trying to stop a suspected shoplifter.
West Yorkshire Police was called to Farmfoods, on Waterloo Terrace, Bramley, on Tuesday after a member of staff was punched in the head by a man.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: At 12.52pm yesterday, police were called to an incident outside the Farmfoods store, in Waterloo Terrace, Bramley, where a member of staff had been assaulted by a man.
"The victim, a man in his fifties, was punched to the head after he had pursued a female suspect believed to have stolen items from the store.
"The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were later confirmed as not being serious or life-threatening.
"Enquiries are ongoing to locate and arrest the two suspects involved in the incident.
"Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team have increased their patrols around the Bramley Shopping Centre to provide reassurance following this incident."
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received a call to an assault incident at retail premises on Waterloo Terrace, Bramley at lunchtime on Tuesday.
"A number of ambulance resources were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to hospital."
