PEOPLE have been urged to stay away from hospital if they have flu-like symptoms.

The Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which Bradford Royal Infirmary comes under, has asked people not to attend A&E with symptoms - unless they feel they have serious respiratory problems.

The trust has also asked those with symptoms to not visit patients or attend route appointments.

A spokesperson said the request is part of the trust's usual winter planning to protect patients and staff.

They said: “We can confirm that we are seeing and admitting patients with seasonal flu.

“We are also asking people with flu-like symptoms not to visit patients, come in for routine appointments or come into A&E unless they feel they have serious respiratory problems.

"This request is part of our normal winter planning and helps protect our patients and staff."

They added: “We would like to remind people about the importance of having a flu jab, particularly those in ‘at risk’ groups such as people with long-term health conditions, the elderly and pregnant women.

“Our staff have been helping to beat the seasonal winter flu bug and protect patients by lining up in their thousands to have the flu jab as part of our annual staff flu jab campaign.”
