A YORKSHIRE Dales hotel has been named has been named 'best vegan luxury hotel' in an animal rights charity's travel awards.
Beck Hall in Malham, which is entirely plant-based, and it is believed the first of its kind in England, has been recognised by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for its 'outstanding vegan hospitality'.
The charity's travel awards celebrate the travel providers, hotels, attractions, and other industry leaders that are meeting what PETA describes as the 'skyrocketing' demand for vegan and animal-friendly travel.
The hotel went fully vegan in December. It offers en suite rooms with vegan toiletries, bedding, and food – including breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner – and dogs are welcome, too.
The à la carte menu features starters such as Tamarind Treacle-Glazed Baby Back 'Ribs', mains including Banana Blossom and Chips, and Pomegranate and Rose Mess among the desserts.
“A visit to Beck Hall is the perfect staycation for anyone looking for a luxurious experience with all the bells and whistles,” said PETA corporate projects manager Dr Carys Bennett.
“The good people at Beck Hall have set the industry standard for promoting a vegan lifestyle, and recognising them with this award is our way of saying thank you.”
Owners Louise and Andy Macbeth acquired Beck Hall nearly a decade ago.
They said a personal journey that started from a place of compassion for animals had led their family to a plant-based diet and that they also recognised the potential positive impact eating more plants could have on the environment and health.
