A YOUNG child suffered serious injuries and a major road has been closed following a serious crash involving a car and taxi on the edge of Bradford and Leeds this afternoon (Monday).

Four people have been taken to hospital, including a young child who suffered serious injures, following the crash on Horsforth New Road at Rodley.

A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Police said: "Emergency services were called to Horsforth New Road in Rodley at 4.56pm today following a serious collision between a car and a taxi.

"Police, fire and ambulance services attended the location.  Several parties were taken to hospital for treatment including a very young child who suffered serious injuries.

"Road closures have been in place at the scene, including at Dawson’s Corner, and drivers are urged to avoid the area while police enquiries and recovery work continue."

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received an emergency call at 4.55pm today to a report a collision on the A6120 close to Dawsons Corner. 

"A number of ambulance resources were dispatched to the scene, including four ambulances, an air ambulance and team leader. 

"Four patients were conveyed by road to Leeds General Infirmary."

According to a traffic alerts, the "A6120 Ring Road Farsley both ways is blocked, and there is queueing traffic due to a between Priesthorpe Road and A647 Bradford Road (Dawsons Corner). Sources confirm that an accident has resulted in a car fire".

Other traffic alerts reported that the A6120 Leeds Outer Ring Road has closed due to the incident between the A647 Bradford Road and A657 Rodley Lane.

The T&A has also asked West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for a comment.
