A COMPANY has been given the green light to turn an underused city centre site into an electric vehicle charging station.
Metalcraft Development Limited had applied for permission to install 12 EV charging units – each of which is capable of charging two vehicles at a time - at the overgrown parking site off Valley Road.
The proposals also include two electricity sub stations, and access to the site would be via the existing access on North Holme Street.
The site is just a short distance from the city centre and Forster Square station – which will soon get an extra platform in a bid to increase the number of trains to and from London.
This week, planning officers at Bradford Council said the development would fall under permitted development. This means planning permission to go ahead with the work was not needed.
The 24-space charging centre will be one of the biggest EV charging hubs in the city centre.
