A SELFLESS fundraiser has donated more toys to poorly children being cared for in hospital.
Nazim Ali marked one of the holiest days in the Islamic calendar – 27th Rajab – by donating 30 gifts to Airedale Hospital as part of his Creating Smiles initiative, which has been running for more than 10 years.
Nazim thanked Bradford-based SaveCo Cash and Carry for its ongoing support.
The business sponsors the initiative, which sees Nazim donate gifts to both Airedale and Bradford Royal Infirmary, five times a year.
Nazim said: “My dear friend Mohammed Azeem once more accompanied me to Airedale Hospital as well as helping me in selecting and purchasing the gifts.”
Mohammed spent 61 days in the hospital – 41 in a coma – as he battled Covid-19.
He said: "It was a great honour to have been once more asked to attend with my friend Nazim - who never stops helping others - and to support the excellent work of the caring staff in the NHS which I have had first-hand experience."
The gifts are for all children on the ward, irrespective of faith.
“As a child, I spent a significant period in hospital due to my struggle with TB and can empathise with what the children are going through,” said Nazim.
Shiraz Ahmed, managing director at SaveCo, added: "We are truly humbled to once more to support the fabulous Initiative started by Nazim who does so much to help others.”
