BRADFORD City’s Valley Parade grounds could be partly powered by solar energy if new plans are approved.
A planning application to install solar arrays on sections of the roof of the University of Bradford Stadium has been submitted to Bradford Council by renewable energy company SNRG Ltd.
The proposals say panels would be installed on the roof of the stadium’s south and east stands, and would have a 200 kWp capacity.
The application says the panels will not be visible to the public, adding: “The energy will be used by the stadium with any excess released to the grid.”
A decision on the application is expected later this month.
If approved, the stadium will be the latest building in the district to be fitted out with solar arrays.
The Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust is currently installing panels on 17 schools across the District, and permission was recently granted for a solar array on a section of Lister Mills.
