DANCING on Ice is back on our screens – but did you know Bradford was proudly on show during the opening show?

The so-called “Greatest Show on Ice” aired its first episode of the 2024 series – the 16th since it began in 2006 – on ITV, on January 14.

It pits several novice ice-skating celebrities alongside professionals against each other in a weekly competition, with a winner crowned at the end of the series.

The coveted trophy was handed to British gymnast and Olympian Nile Wilson and his dance partner, Olivia Sophie Smart, last year and this series has another bumper list of stars including Love Island personality Amber Davies and former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas.

Each week the couples perform a live dance routine on the ice and receive a score out of 10 from a judging panel – which is added to the public vote to determine who is eliminated.

One of those is Olympic gold medal winner Christopher Dean, who donned an elegant suit jacket made by IK Collections, in Westgate, Bradford as he was introduced alongside his fellow judges on the opening evening.

Imran Khan, who runs IK Collections, said Mr Dean also wore another of the firm’s suits for a press conference for Dancing on Ice.

He added: “This is a big great deal for Bradford.”

The jackets take around six to eight weeks to make and Mr Khan said the show – which IK Collections has worked with for around four years now – “always wants something different”.

Mr Dean is most famous for shooting to gold with fellow judge Jayne Torvill at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, where the duo performed to Boléro.

The 65-year-old has worn several vibrant creations made by the firm since IK Collections became involved with the show.

There was a special evening Tuxedo, with hand sequences around the edge, and a grey and black 3D-style jacket featuring sequins in 2022.

IK Collections was also represented by Mr Dean in the final of the show back in 2021.

The suit specialists began life in 2016, in the very shop well-known Bradford tailor Ray Lister served customers for more than half a century, whom Mr Khan managed to convince to come out of retirement in October 2019.

A whole host of celebrities have worn suits created by the firm over the years, including Chris Eubank Jr., Amir Khan, Tyson Fury, Tom Zanetti, Duncan James from Blue, the late Captain Sir Tom Moore, Tommy Fury, and many more.
