The Northern Echo and SEVEN members of its team have been shortlisted at the prestigious Regional Press Awards 2024.
The awards recognise and celebrate fantastic journalism across the UK, written over the last 12 months.
Hundreds of entries across a number of categories are being judged from newspapers and websites across the country.
The awards champion the ideals that The Northern Echo stands by in its effort to deliver quality journalism, hold those in power to account, champion communities, campaign for what is right, and give a voice to those without one.
We are absolutely thrilled and very proud that the Echo and its journalists have been shortlisted in a whopping SEVEN categories.

The Great Daily of the North is also up for overall News Brand of the Year
Northern Echo editor Gavn Foster said: “This is a fantastic achievement. The number and quality of nominations that are entered are incredible and to be shortlisted is at is amazing. But to be shortlisted in seven categories is just phenomenal.
“But it is testament to the incredible hard work, determination, and tenacity our team shows to bring to deliver the absolute best for our readers. I’m so, so proud of the team.”
The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony in London on April 16.
