A WEST Yorkshire Police officer has been charged with sexual offences which were allegedly committed while he was off-duty.
PC Benjamin Bottomley, 21, who works in Kirklees District, has been charged with rape and sexual assault by penetration.
He is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
According to West Yorkshire Police, the charges relate to alleged offences committed against one person - one prior to joining the force and the other while he was a student officer.
Both alleged offences were reported to officers after he started working with West Yorkshire Police.
PC Bottomley is currently suspended from duty.
