PUDSEY Leisure Centre’s car park is set to close temporarily over the February half term.

The leisure centre car park will be closed between February 12 and 18 as part of an ongoing heating project.

Councillor Simon Seary (Pudsey, Conservative) said it's hoped the half-term holiday closure will have the smallest impact on drivers who use the site.

Cllr Seary said: “We appreciate it will be a massive inconvenience to shoppers, leisure centre users, workers and residents of Pudsey.

“Whilst access to the car park will be close[d], we are looking at what we can use the site for during the half term holiday.”

Why is Pudsey Leisure Centre car park closed?

Cabling is being installed as a new substation needs to be built for an air source heating project at the centre.

The electrical grid upgrade is likely to take between five and seven days, Leeds City Council told councillors.

In an email, the Council said: “Following a meeting between Highways & Northern Powergrid on-site, it has been confirmed that there is no means to deliver this upgrade without closure of the car park due to the impact of closure of part of the one-way system.

“Following discussions with Active Leeds, February half-term (Feb 12-18) has been identified as the optimum time to complete this upgrade.

“All parties are aware that this will impact on the users of the leisure centre and the town centre, and we will put up signage in the car park next week to notify regular users of the upcoming closure.”
