A HOSPICE which helps families across the Bradford district is celebrating after again being rated as 'outstanding' by inspectors.
Forget Me Not Children's Hospice in Huddersfield has been awarded the top rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for a second time following its latest inspection last October.
Forget Me Not Hospice provides support to children with life-shortening conditions, as well as their families.
It also helps families of those living with the loss of a child across West Yorkshire.
Sheila Grant, CQC deputy director of operations in the north, was full of praise for the hospice.
She said: "When we inspected Forget Me Not Children's Hospice, we found a service where managers and staff went the extra mile to ensure children and their families received the best possible care.
"The service understood what children and their families needed, both clinically, and emotionally at a really difficult time in their lives.
"We heard that families were made to feel like they were the only family the staff were working with at any moment in time, and all feedback was overwhelmingly positive about the kind and discreet nature of staff.
"We saw support being offered to every family member and heard positive examples of care that had been provided to fathers.
"All staff should be extremely proud of the care they're providing to children and their families. They clearly work hard to provide exceptional care and other providers should look at this report to see if there’s anything they can learn."
Gareth Pierce, chief executive at Forget Me Not Hospice, added: "We're thrilled to have retained our overall outstanding rating since our last inspection in 2015.
"It's testament to the incredible hard work of all the team here who go above and beyond every day to ensure children and families receive the best possible care and support - care that is tailored to each child and family's needs.
"We are passionate about delivering our promise that for as long as we're here no family will have to face the loss of their child alone.
"This rating means that families looking for support can be confident that they will receive exceptional care that's built around what they need, when they need it the most.
"And it means that the people who donate to us are safe in the knowledge that their money is being spent on delivering the highest standard of care."
