ARMED police were scrambled after a man allegedly armed with a machete made threats in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called to Market Place in Brighouse shortly before 3am.

They had received reports that a man had been threatened by a man armed with a machete.

Armed police were deployed to the scene.

According to West Yorkshire Police, a number of males were detained and searched but they were subsequently released. 

No injuries were reported and police investigations are continuing this morning.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "At 2.56am, officers were called to Market Place in Brighouse to reports a man had been threatened by a man armed with a machete.  

"Armed officers were deployed.  

"No injuries were reported.  

"A number of males were detained and searched at the scene but were subsequently released. 

"Calderdale CID officers are continuing enquiries this morning."
