A DRIVER has received eight penalty points on his licence and must pay £1,500 for using a tipper van without insurance in the Lake District.
Daniel Coyle, 25, of Moorhouse Avenue, in Swain House, Bradford, was found guilty of using a motor vehicle on a road or public place without third-party insurance, at North And West Cumbria Magistrates' Court on December 8.
He had pleaded not guilty at an earlier hearing.
Court records show Coyle was caught driving a white Ford Transit tipper van on the A66, near Penruddock, in Penrith without insurance covering the vehicle on October 31, 2022.
The court handed Coyle eight points on his driving licence for the offence.
He was also ordered to pay £1,544 in total.
This included a £660 fine, a surcharge of £264, and £620 in costs.
Coyle must pay this total by January 8 this year.
