TRIBUTES have been pouring in following the death of a young Bradford girl on Boxing Day.
Abbie Wilson died aged 10 when the blue Skoda Kodiaq she was travelling in was in a collision with a black Audi on Garrowby Street, near Garrowby in East Yorkshire, shortly before 5pm on Tuesday.
A fundraiser has been set up by Amanda Jacklin, a friend of the family, and has raised over £1,500.
Humberside Police also confirmed the driver of the Audi, a 66-year-old man, sadly passed away at the scene.
Six other people suffered what are thought to be serious injuries in the collision, according to police.
Paying tribute, Vicar Reverend Gary Hodgson told the Telegraph & Argus: "Abbie was a precious member of our church community at St Mary's Laisterdyke and St Christopher's Holme Wood and we are devastated at her loss.
"She was a beautiful, sensitive, and caring person who loved to have a proper chat with you and we miss her.
"Our whole church community is praying for her family that God will bring them comfort and strength in the days ahead."
St Mary's Church and Primetime Bradford - both of which are based in The Vine Centre, in Laisterdyke - paid tribute to Abbie in a message on Facebook yesterday evening.
Primetime is a project that delivers a variety of activities for children and young people in the BD4 area, with sessions planned and led by young volunteers.
The post said: "10-year-old Abbie Wilson who many of you will recognise from our 'Selfies on Sunday' during Lockdown, and part of our Friday Feast Community, died in a tragic road accident yesterday (Tuesday)."
It also urged people to pray for three members of Abbie's family, who it said were "in hospital as they are treated for injuries", as well as Abbie herself.
The message added: "St Mary's Church on Parsonage Road will be open tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon between 2pm and 5pm if anyone would like to come and pray or light a candle or speak with (Revd) Sarah (Harrison) who will be there."
Paying tribute to Abbie, her family said: "Abbie was such a lovable young girl.
"She would constantly have us looking at houses she would find on the internet, describing her dream home for when she grew up.
"We will miss her so much."
The Telegraph & Argus opened a Book of Condolence for Abbie which has been inundated with tributes.
Sara-Linda Mitchell said: "I'm so sorry for the loss of your young child on Boxing Day. Absolutely heartbreaking to hear of and my thoughts are with you."
Bibi Khan added: "Rest in peace little one. A dark cloud has settled on our hearts. We feel the lights have been turned off in our neighbourhood we are all deeply saddened and heartbroken."
Megan Wilkinson said: "We will miss your snuggles and cheesy grin Abbie! I am so sorry we never got our play date! I really hope you never stop playing up in heaven."
Steve White added: "So very sorry to hear this. My sincere thoughts are with Abbie’s family and friends at this tragic time. Heartbreaking."
The message on Amanda Jacklin's GoFundMe page, which has raised £1,565 at the time of writing, reads: "Hi my name is Amanda and I’m a friend to this beautiful girl's family.
"Abbie was in a traffic incident where she sadly lost her life.
"Abbie was travelling with her family who also sustained injuries.
"Abbie was an amazing kind-hearted girl with her whole life in front of her and will be sadly missed by all who have met her.
"Her smile lit up every room she walked into and will now be shining bright among the angels."
Ms Jacklin said she hoped Abbie's parents "don't mind me starting a funding page up" and said that "any monies raised will be given to the family to help them at this sad time".
She added: "May you rest in eternal peace, Abbie."
Police are appealing to anybody who was travelling in the area at the time of the collision, or who may have dash cam or CCTV footage, to call 101.
