OVER 700 people have singed a petition calling for more free parking spaces to be introduced in Bingley.

The petition, which runs until New Year’s Day, claims local businesses have suffered due to the lack of free spaces in the town for their customers to park.

The petition reads: “We would like to have the council introduce more free parking and free parking areas around the Bingley area.

“We have all noticed a rapid decrease in free places to park and the increase in price in the pay & display areas, causing local small businesses to suffer from a lack of custom and making it very hard for people working in the area.

“We are therefore petitioning for the introduction of more free parking within the Bingley area as it used to be.”

The petition was posted on Bradford Council’s website in November, and has so far been signed by 707 people.
