A BUSINESS has applied to stay open until 2am after being issued an enforcement notice due to concerns over its late opening.
In 2018, plans to redevelop the vacant Express House on White Abbey Road, on the outskirts of the city centre, were approved by Bradford Council.
The plans included a beauty parlour on the first floor.
In 2020, an application to change this use to a café were approved by planners, on the condition that this business shut at 11pm.
Earlier this year the Council issued an enforcement notice against the business, saying it was breaching this condition, and ordering the business to stick to the approved opening times.
Now an application to amend these opening times allowing the business, Rehana Lounge, to open until 2am has been submitted to Bradford Council by a Mr Ali.
It says: “From running the business (the applicant) has found the majority of customers tend to want to visit later once they finish from their work which in this community tends to off peak.
“This property in a whole has given back to the area and pulled further businesses into the area therefore supporting local business and bringing a boost to this part of the city.
“Unfortunately, if the premise does not open later my client may be forced to close up with burdening debts from the covid period and business still recovering.”
