32 DRIVERS were reported for using their phones whilst behind the wheel in a six-hour police operation.
West Yorkshire Police officers conducted the action in Brighouse town centre yesterday.
Their sole focus was on those using mobile phones whilst driving motor vehicles on public roads.
Officers utilised plain clothes to evidence drivers committing these offences.
Each of the 32 drivers will receive points and a fine.
PC Dainton said: “We wanted to focus on mobile phones as it is one of the fatal four offences and is responsible for causing deaths or serious injuries on our roads.
"Often members of the public feedback to us how frustrating it can be seeing people committing this offence.
"We took a different approach today to try and get a true snapshot of what is happening on the roads in and around Brighouse.
"We will be back and targeting other locations in Calderdale soon."
