A MAN arrested after a serious crash on a main road in Bradford has been bailed pending further enquiries, police have confirmed.

The collision, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, happened on Great Horton Road on Wednesday lunchtime.

A man was taken to hospital in a critical condition, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said following the incident.

The driver of a black Volkswagen Golf failed to stop at the scene.

Shortly after, a 25-year-old man went to a police station and was arrested in connection with the incident.

This morning, the police spokesperson told the Telegraph & Argus: "The 25-year-old has been bailed pending further enquiries."

A section of Great Horton Road, from Siddique Pharmacy to Mahmoods, was closed in both directions for most of the afternoon.

When the Telegraph & Argus visited the scene, several police officers and paramedics were spotted.

One resident described the incident as "shocking".

The police spokesperson added: "Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or saw the vehicle prior to the collision to come forward or anyone who may have dash cam footage.
