A MAN has appeared in court charged with a serious sexual offence on a 19-year-old which allegedly took place in the grounds of a cemetery.
Adam Martin, 26, of Cleckheaton, has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
The incident is alleged to have happened in the grounds of Whitcliffe Cemetery on Whitcliffe Road, Cleckheaton on Thursday, December 7.
A scene was in place to undergo forensic examination at the cemetery throughout Thursday and Friday last week.
Martin appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court earlier this week on Monday, December 11.
The 26-year-old did not enter a plea during the hearing and was remanded in custody.
He will appear at Leeds Crown Court on January 10, 2024.
