LATETS NEWS: Man dies in hospital after crash on major road

A MAN is fighting for his life following a crash on a major Bradford road. 

The collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian happened on Great Horton Road earlier today.

A man was taken to hospital in a critical condition, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said. 

The driver of a black Volkswagen Golf failed to stop at the scene.

Shortly after, a 25-year-old man went to a police station and was arrested in connection with the incident.

A police spokesperson: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision involving a pedestrian in Bradford.  

"Officers were called at 12.27pm to Great Horton Road to reports a vehicle had been in collision with a pedestrian. 

"The man was taken to hospital in a critical condition. 

"The driver of the Black VW Golf failed to stop at the scene.  

"A short while later a man, aged 25, presented himself at a local police station.

"He was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody at this time. 

"The road remains closed whilst enquiries are carried out. 

"Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or saw the vehicle prior to the collision to come forward or anyone who may have dash cam footage.
